Sentier Littoral des Bruzzi (Sentier des Bruzzi): Visitor’s Guide

Sentier Littoral des Bruzzi (AKA Sentier des Bruzzi) is a lesser-known yet superb coastal walk in the south of Corsica. If you want to do one of the best coastal walks in Corsica, then add this trail to your Corsica hiking to-do list.

In this guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about doing this walk. Beck and I thoroughly enjoyed it, and we hope you follow in our footsteps.

Sentier Littoral des Bruzzi: Bruzzi Coastal Trail

In English, Sentier Littoral des Bruzzi translates to Bruzzi Coastal Trail. The walk is also referred to as Sentier des Bruzzi, i.e. Bruzzi Trail. Essentially, the walk takes place on the Bruzzi Coast, a beautiful peninsula located in the south of Corsica.

The relatively short circular walk visits four small pristine beaches. Indeed, the Bruzzi Coast is one of the most spectacular stretches of coastline in Corsica. If you’re in the area, or even staying nearby in Bonifacio, we highly recommend doing this walk to experience the stunning Bruzzi Coast.

Although the walk is relatively straightforward to follow, we recommend using a map to aid navigation. We used this AllTrails map.

How to Get There (Parking)

A small dirt parking area is located at the trailhead. To our knowledge, there are no public transportation options for accessing the trailhead. So, you’ll need to drive to the trailhead.

Sentier Littoral des Bruzzi Highlights

It’s time to look at the highlights of the walk. We won’t provide a long-winded step-by-step trail description. After all, it’s best to use a map, if needed, to help with navigation on the track.

Instead, we’ll provide an overview of the highlights of the walk, which are the four beaches you’ll visit en route. Additionally, we’ll share some of our experiences from the walk.

La Vénus

After departing Bonifacio nice and early, Beck and I arrived at the trailhead for the walk at dusk. The small parking area was empty, which was a welcome sight, as this meant we were likely to have Sentier Littoral des Bruzzi to ourselves.

From the off, you’ll join a quaint forest trail leading towards the coastline. After around 1km, you’ll reach the first beach called La Vénus.

Because we had started the walk early enough, we were lucky to arrive at La Vénus just in time for sunrise. Watching the sunrise at La Vénus was a truly memorable experience. We recommend you do the same, if possible!

Plage Thia (Thia Beach)

Not far from La Vénus, on the opposite side of the headland, you’ll find the second beach of the walk, Thia Beach. During the early and late stages of the circular section of the walk, you’ll also enjoy splendid views of Thia Beach in the distance.

After spending a decent chunk of time soaking in the sunrise at La Vénus and arriving at Thia Beach so soon after, we decided to crack on with the walk.

The stretch of coast between Thia Beach and Emma Beach is truly spectacular.

Plage Emma (Emma Beach)

Soon enough, we arrived at Emma Beach. By this point in our walk, we still hadn’t encountered any other people. Arriving at an empty Emma Beach was yet another calming and peaceful moment during our walk along Sentier Littoral des Bruzzi.

As it was still early, the beach was still in the shade. This meant the usual intense colour of the rocks and water was dampened. However, the trade-off was the lovely orange hues over the horizon during golden hour.

From Emma Beach, you’re only around 600 metres or so from Hugo Beach.

Plage Hugo (Hugo Beach)

Bear in mind that the official trail of Sentier Littoral des Bruzzi doesn’t take you onto the beach itself but merely passes it. Of course, you’re free to go explore the beach!

Personally, Beck and I enjoyed exploring the epic rocky platforms at the headland south of the beach. That’s where we spent another fair amount of time soaking in the sea breeze. Also, from the southern headland, you’ll enjoy immense views of the beach and the mountains surrounding it.

It’s also where we flew our drone. Be sure to watch our Corsica Walks YouTube video (coming soon) to view aerial footage of Sentier Littoral des Bruzzi.

Once we had scoped out the area near Hugo Beach, we continued along the trail, which veered away from the coastline. Soon enough, you’ll complete the circular component of the trail. From there, it’s only around 500 metres to reach the parking area to complete the walk.

Sentier Littoral des Bruzzi: Our Verdict

We highly recommend completing this walk if you plan to visit the south of Corsica. It’s a lesser-known coastal trail, but it’s undoubtedly one of the best on the island. Walking at sunrise made for an incredible experience, so we recommend doing the same.

Other Walks in Bouches de Bonifacio Nature Reserve

The Bruzzi Coast falls within the Bouches de Bonifacio Nature Reserve. Having stayed in the Bonifaco area for three nights, we completed a few other walks in this nature reserve.

The other best walks in the nature reserve include those closer to Bonifacio. This includes Campu Rumanilu, Strada Vecia Madonetta and the Capo di Feno Bonifacio Walk.

Where to Stay Nearby
