Pointe de la Revellata is a spectacular peninsula in Calvi, Corsica. It’s possible to do a loop walk around the headland, where you’ll see a lighthouse (Phare de la Revellata) and pass a hidden beach (Plage Oscelluccia). Beck and I thoroughly enjoyed this circular coastal walk and highly recommend doing it if you’re visiting Calvi.

Pointe de la Revellata Hike Details
The circular walk around the peninsula is just shy of 10km. Along the undulating route, you’ll gain nearly 350 metres of elevation. The headland is also completely exposed, with no areas of shade. So, the walk is quite physically demanding. Albeit there are no technical sections and trail navigation is relatively straightforward.
For all of these reasons, we’ve rated the walk as moderate difficulty.

Personally, Beck and I had hired a car for our 10 day Corsica trip. We didn’t stay in Calvi. As part of our trip, we stayed in Ajaccio, and then on our way to Bastia, we stopped off at Pointe de la Revellata to do this hike.

Parking
There is a large car park at the base of the peninsula located here. This is where the walk around the peninsula begins.
At the car park, you’ll enjoy far-reaching views of the peninsula. Indeed, some people just park here, soak in the views, snap a picture, and leave without doing the walk.

Our Experience Doing This Hike
Beck and I agree that the Pointe de la Revellata hike is one of our favourite coastal walks in Corsica. Below, we’ll share a little more about our experience doing the walk.
We won’t bore you with a tedious step-by-step trail description. Instead, we’ll briefly highlight the main points of interest along the way and show you some of our best photos en route.
FYI – we did this walk in a clockwise direction.

Hiking Around Pointe de la Revellata
From the car park, a wide paved trail zig-zags down to the peninsula. Along this trail, you’ll immediately enjoy excellent sweeping views of the headland.
You’ll soon walk along tracks at around sea level, where the surrounding hilly terrain somewhat obscures your coastal views.
At around 2.7km, you’ll climb the steepest section of the walk. This paves the way for some of the best western-facing coastal views along the peninsula.

The higher you climb, the better the south-facing views of the surrounding ridges become. During this section of the walk, you’ll enjoy the classic Corsican landscape, a stunning mix of mountains and coast. Once you soak in these views and continue north along the walk, you’ll soon spy a lighthouse at the northern tip of the headland.

Phare de la Revellata
Undoubtedly, Phare de la Revellata (AKA Revellata Lighthouse) is one of the standout attractions during the walk around Pointe de la Revellata. Dating back to the mid-19th Century, the lighthouse continues to aid maritime traffic in the Gulf of Calvi.

Speaking of the Gulf of Calvi, once you explore the lighthouse and commence the return walk southwards, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of this gulf to your left.
Beck and I were blessed with glorious weather, which helped the turquoise waters to sparkle and look as dreamy as possible. With the town of Calvi and the surrounding mountains in the distance, the next attraction you’ll visit on the eastern side of the peninsula is Plage Oscelluccia.

Plage Oscelluccia (Plage de la Revellata)
Plage Oscelluccia (AKA Plage de la Revellata) is a well-concealed yet popular beach on the peninsula. It’s really only a minuscule bay, but it’s a hidden natural gem.
If you’re keen, this would be the perfect place for a dip to cool off. We’ve heard this spot is great for snorkelling.

After passing Plage Oscelluccia, you’ll continue along a stunning, gently winding coastal path. Eventually, you’ll reach another small beach called Plage de l’Alga. On the day we visited, the beach was covered in seaweed, so it perhaps didn’t look quite as spectacular as it usually does.
From this beach, it’s a short walk to complete the loop. You’ll then follow the same wide, winding paved track back to the car park to complete the walk around Pointe de la Revellata.
