Cicada Luxury Camping is a unique adults-only glamping accommodation near Kiama. The glamping accommodation site is set in the enchanting green rolling hills of Jerrara and Jamberoo. 9. Killalea Campground

If you’re looking for an excellent basic campsite near Kiama, look no further than Killalea Campground. Located in the serene Killalea Regional Park, between Wollongong and Kiama, the campground is within touching distance of breathtaking beaches such as Minnamurra Beach and Killalea Beach.

These beaches provide world-class surf breaks as well as great fishing. So, the campground is an ideal spot to easily access the great surf and fishing on offer at Killalea Regional Park.

The Killalea Campground has 53 marked sites and it also has a dormitory-style bunkhouse. The smaller sites are for a maximum of six people, and only one vehicle can park on the site. The larger sites are known as group sites and they can accommodate a maximum of eight people and two vehicles. The bunkhouse is available for a maximum of 40 people. All sites are unpowered and three of the campsites have a concrete slab, which is ideal for caravans.

This campsite near Kiama doesn’t provide the lavish facilities and amenities of the holiday parks in Kiama. But, in saying that, for an NPWS-managed campsite, the facilities are actually quite good. There is an amenities block with flush toilets and hot showers as well as a large sheltered camp kitchen with BBQ facilities.

Indeed, Killalea Campground provides a supremely natural setting and decent amenities for a comfortable stay. But, if you’re looking for a campsite with more facilities, you may want to consider a holiday park in Kiama or even holiday parks in Wollongong.

10. Gerroa Surf Camp

Last but not least, the Gerroa Surf Camp is another camping option near Kiama. Located at Discovery Parks – Gerroa, the surf camp caters for kids and adolescents, running surf schools over the holidays. Gerroa Surf Camp offers different packages, some for a weekend and other camps lasting a whole week.

Sure, this is a fairly niche camping option. But, hear us out. The adults get to unwind in a lovely cabin at Discovery Parks while the kids have the time of their lives at surf camp on the same site. It sounds like a win-win to us!
